Michael Moore on Morning Joe: 'Withdraw Your Money from Bailed Out Banks'

Quote from ByLoSellHi:

Michael Moore, populist as he may be, and tarnished by the extreme right (unsuccessfully), has done more to point out the critical flaws in major structures in the U.S. and massive corruption in the U.S. (the industrial-military complex, the corrosive and toxic power of lobbyists of all stripes, and the adverse role of corporate money in politics), than any of his contemporaries, and by a large measure.

The U.S. really is on the cusp of Rome destroying itself from within. Whether it falls will be a function of whether there's a revolution or not.

My only beef is with the corrosive power of lobbyists.

There's nothing inherently wrong with lobbying for one's interests. Often a lobby is the only way for a common citizen to let his representative know his wishes.

The problem is that government has become too powerful and politicians have incentive to monetize that power by selling it to the highest bidder - lobbyists.

If the government were less powerful, the lobbyist would not seek to buy that power. But as long as politicians have massive power, it will be sought and purchased by someone. No amount of law will be able to overcome this economic incentive.

Michael Moore is a communist and Americans should be very leery of guys like him. You don't want to promote central planners like him on television too much. Hopefully our young people understand this.

Two kinds of communists exist now (Republicans and Democrats)

If McCain was in office the current disaster would be unmitigated. We would literally be taken back economically several hundred years.

The same a-hole who was the primary cause of the current mess was McCain's economic adviser. The crook named Phil Gramm. This crook with almost satanic zeal, authored regulation to help large monopolies at the expense of small mom and pop businesses.

Yes, the core republican imbecile voter is a huge problem. The core republican voter is more worried about gays, abortions and blacks, than they are about their own financial welfare.

That's how we get republican illiterates like this one into congress who are easily bought with a $1000 campaign donation.

The only way to break this two party communist dictatorship is to unconditionally support populist politicians like Grayson who walk their own path and support all the independent candidates with our money.

It's the money in politics that corrupts the process. Either we can fund the good guys in congress ourselves, or leave them to be corrupted down the line when they have to beg lobbyists for campaign money.

Except Obama got double the money from corporations compared to McCain. I contend that hyper partisanism is the problem. While each party tries to destroys each other the power players tear America down.

A safe alternative? ABC Bank down the street is just as safe as BAC. Shit, they may be more safe. BAC wants you to believe they are safer. They AREN'T!

Quote from Ivanovich:

I have my money in Bank of America. I would love to pull it out, if someone would offer me a safe alternative. But I cannot be sure of a safe alternative, so in it stays with the whole "devil you know is better than the devil you don't know" ideology.

Maybe you should acquaint yourself with this site http://www.bankrate.com/rates/safe-sound/bank-ratings.aspx?t=cb&i=&r=5&a=&c=&s=&z=

It's by no means perfect but gives a good starting point.

I vote for publicly funded campaigns, everyone gets the same amount.

Agreed. In Canada I was told, everyone gets $1 million I believe. They are not allowed to become lobbyists after leaving office immediately either. That's doesn't mean they don't have corruption.

Not that I would ever live in Canada for $1 million per year tax-free, but I agree on the elections funding as an equal opportunity.
