so when do we see "broke" in Cannes as a documentary?
clearly, Michael you aspire to be like Michael Moore (same name - coincidence???), but first you need to change your politics and party affiliation.
Then who knows, Cannes, maybe an Oscar..... :)

Think of a little attention-seeking kid with no talent or ability whose only means of drawing attention to himself is to make loud and vulgar noises.

Yes, ambition is good. Mediocrity coupled with arrogance and condescension? Not so much.

I actually just bought both covel's turtle book and Chris Faith's. I've finished reading Faith's and am just getting started on Covel's (in the first pages he makes it pretty clear that he was not a "turtle").

I bought the books before ever seeing this thread, just to see what the two said about the same topic.

I could tell in the first flipping-through-the-pages that there is some acrimony between the two authors, but that's fine. Let's see what Covel says about the trading system (haven't gotten there yet).

What Faith says about the system is actually kind of confusing too. Usually people who know wtf they're talking about can articulate their concepts to just about anyone, so I'm immediately suspicious. The Faith book that I have has a (what I at the time thought rather spurious and unnecessary) "bonus chapter." Now that I understand the acrimony between the 2 authors and the very modest success of Faith's more recent ventures I guess I get that he was using the "bonus chapter" to fend off or re-position criticisms against him.

Anyway, I'll post up after I finish Covel's book. I am sort of surprised to find all kinds of websites, forums, blogs etc featuring Covel all of a sudden. Maybe I'd just never noticed before.

It's starting to sound more and more like a marketing competition, and less about 2 people trying to narrate about an extremely interesting experiment in the '80's.

I know the <i>writing</i> of my first book 'Trend Following' is not as strong as my 'TurtleTrader' book, but the content of the 'Trend Following' book was/is very unique on several fronts (note: the 2009 edition of 'Trend Following' was improved writing wise). It still remains the only intro into the trend following trading space. Name another book that introduces the players, the concepts, the philosophy, the psychology, the strategy, and the monthly performance of the top trend traders. Doesn't exist. And please don't throw out some Wiley-like system trading book that is all charts and formulas with barely any writing -- that was not the intent of 'Trend Following' -- which is one reason why it has sold over a 100,000 copies. People can understand it unlike most technical trading books. Additionally, 'Trend Following' was the first book to address the zero sum nature of big events ranging from Barings, to LTCM, to the 08 crash -- and how trend followers were on the other side. Perhaps, you knew all this, and surely some did, but many did not. Many had no clue. The book also addressed a critical point regarding "upside volatility" among trend followers along with pointing out negative issues with the Sharpe ratio. Once again, some knew this, MANY did not. Lastly, for comparison to your "content free" review, other people with some achievement in their life had positive feedback for 'Trend Following'. I guess they are all drinking Kool-aid?
