Hi there ]
Can some one give me an oponion on this option i bought
this is my 1st time trading option and i think it was a great deal but seem like my portfolio has already gone down -%50

I bought MER 3 contract Strike 50 Leap 2010
Bought it at $3.00 it is now trading at $1.99
I also tried to look up at Merril Earning they are supposed to report earning this month but cant find the exact date

Hi Ksonsinc and all..this is actually a great post in that what you are saying is that you are bullish on MER and decided to buy a call on MER. However if you really want to understand options you would realize that you also need to SELL something against that call....either by buying the put or selling an OTM call against the call you bought. People who just buy or sell calls/puts are basically just trying to use the leverage that options afford without really understanding that options are in and of themselves a way of playing the market/stock. Before just buying or selling an option try LEARNING about options because you then can always "hedge" your option and limit/enhance your risk.

isntead of hedging and buying 10 contracts why not just say... buy 3 contracts?

or does just buying contracts not fool yourself to think that you aren't gambling and instead, are an "advanced" investor/trader?
