Tribute to a friend named Doug.

Why?

Because when I was in the graveyard of desperation overcome with mental anguish, and emotional turmoil a wonderful friend helped me. Quite frankly, there are not enough words to describe all that he did for me and my wife.

One day I asked him why he teaches free of charge. He replied.."I choose the poorest
and the dumbest in the room". I didn't always agree with his brutal honesty.:D

I know my own shitty ego had to be broken, which is still a work in progress.
Maybe it's similar to those that have went through a near death experience. When you come out the other side your perspective about life and people does a 180.

I did not always believe that. At one time I scoffed at psychology being important
in trading. Doug once told me.."Mike, you will fail, and continue to fail
because your ego is too big to learn anything"

It was a hard lesson to understand trading strategies, risk management, discipline, and a host of other trading related material was not my real issue.
I struggled because my ego was is in the way.

I thank Doug for giving me a program to subdue the beast of ego.
It's definitely NOT easy, but probably the most important element
in my trading.

Thank you for being a Mentor when I needed you the most,

You are fortunate to have a mentor.
Most of us don't have it.
So we have to learn trading in a very hard torturous merciless way.

yes. consider finding a way to mentor someone elsewhere.

i would like to suggest if i may.

consider the link that pleasure and pain has to your beliefs and outcomes.

i myself have been working on linking the "work" of trading to pleasure and less to pain. this has resulted in my trading experience to be more empowering and the results much better.

What was his net worth from his trading activities,
And other details related to his account,

What did he trade, in what style, how, his % returns, etc etc misc misc
Was he a trader that can be considered....Elite,

Sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing with us. I have had many mentors and they can be a great gift to your life.
 
What is it that you should expect from a mentor?

You shouldn’t expect a mentor to show you a method. You should expect a mentor to guide you through the process of finding and developing a system that suites you. Too many people are looking to copy a method that may not be appropriate for them.
