It is funny how you point to isolated events to make your case, ignoring the fact that we have no black republican senators or congressmen.
Are blacks welcome in the republican party as long as they embrace white republican values?
Yes, they get to make their appearances.
However these select few are hardly representative of the minority groups as a whole.
If the message to the black community is:
"Act like whitey, keep your mouth shut, dress like whitey, don't be controversial, don't break rank, etc." that message is likely not one that is going to reach those who are not interested in such a conversion process.
Being a good soldier, like Colin Powell, who would have likely been the next president if he hadn't soiled himself by blindly following Cheney and Bush, is no longer a great role model.
Come one, let Condi grow out an afro. Let her wear the colors of her ancestors, let her embrace the lower class blacks and try to uplift them by walking the streets of Harlem...but that ain't gonna happen at all.
