OK, we have added the the sliding and absolute scaling options to the intraday charts:

PLEASE NOTE - this is work in progress. Some user interface things in regards to the scale stuff will probably change. We do want your input, suggestions, things you find annoying or hard to deal with, etc. regarding it.

Here is how the adjustments work graphically:
For Sliding Scale:
Hold down the CTRL key, then with the mouse click and hold the left mouse button on the Y axis scale on the chart. You should see a bar show up next to the scale. While holding down the mouse button, move the mouse up to increase the scale, down to decrease it.

For Absolute scale:
Hold down the SHIFT key, then with the mouse click and hold the left mouse button on the UPPER HALF of Y axis scale on the chart. Now moving the mouse up/down changes the upper limit of the scale.

Let go of the mouse button. Hold down the SHIFT key, then with the mouse click and hold the left mouse button on the LOWER HALF of Y axis scale on the chart. Now moving the mouse up/down changes the lower limit of the scale.

MENUS - you can also right click on the Y axis. You will get a menu with options for Dynamic, Absolute and Sliding scaling. Dynamic Scaling is the default and what QT has always had. Selecting Absolute or Sliding will let you manually enter the ranges

If Absolute Scaling is on, then there will be arrows at the top/bottom of the Y axis scale. They will shift the scale up/down, while keeping the range the same.

We would like work out the user interface so that its very simple and hopefully intuitive to use. Any suggestions based on your experience is welcome.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

3 days after asking for a feature in Quotetracker charting...the Medveds put it in. This is above and beyond customer service.

I tryed out the beta and so far it looks great.

What the hell can I say but thanks to everyone on this board who helped push this through. Easyrider--There is strength in numbers...LOL

I don't know if using EliteTrader is the best way to get help with QT but it sure worked this time.

I just have to give kudo's to QT for outstanding customer support. I am a complete dunderhead where computers are concerned. They have gone above and beyond in helping me get set up.
I am a new subscriber with them as my former chart service pulled the plug ..

I hate to be a partypooper but the latest addition is still not what I am referring to as a constant scale unless I am doing something wrong with the beta. On a constant scale the last price would never go off the chart. Previous data may go off the chart if it exceeds the setting but never the last data. If the top of the chart is 1185 on the price scale and the market moves to 1186 the top of the y axis also moves to 86 and so on. If you have it set at a 10 point scale and the top of the chart changes from 85 to 86 the bottom of the chart changes from 75 to 76. Once the scale is set no adjustment is ever needed. These new changes certainly make it easier to make adjustments but you still have to continually make adjustments which, imo, defeats the purpose of constant scaling. I tried both the absolute and sliding scales and the price still moves off the chart on both.

1) thats why we said that this is just the first draft.

2) Maybe I am missing something but Sliding Scale sounds like exactly what you are referring to. The range is fixed. As the price moves, the range is shifted so the price is within the range.

3) Absolute scale - I thought the whole point of ABSOLUTE scale is that it does NOT move, thus the name

Please indicate specifically what is not the way you are looking to have it.

The Sliding Window scale centers the currently visible range in the height specified. We could change it so that it then will adjust it so that the last candle is visible. Is that what you mean?
 
To quote cool hand luke, what we have here is a failure to communicate. On my Ensign chart I have my ES chart set to 10 points. I never have to touch that chart. If price reaches the top of the chart and keeps moving up the last price bar will just sit there pegging the top of the chart but the price scale on the y axis will be moving up to keep pace and the lower price on the y axis will also be moving up to keep the 10 point range constant. If the range of 10 pts on the visible chart is exceeded as price is moving up, price will be going off the bottom of the chart at times but the last price would never go off the chart. I could capture a video I guess and send it to you to illustrate what Im talking about if that would help. I feel a little guilty about bugging you guys as I know you are busting your butts all the time but I believe this would be a quantum leap foreward. Judging from the poll though I guess we constant scalers are in the minority so I could be full of it.:)
