Neither IB backfill nor Prophet.net backfill provides 1 minute or 3 minute charting (the correct way). Both are fine for 5 minute charts. This leads me to believe there is a problem at QT with 3.7.6.B.

This has been going on for two days.

BSAM, we have no problems reported with charting and I have 1 and 3 minute charts in front of me - no problem. Please send me a picture of what you are referring to and the CHARTS.INI file.

I just backfilled MSFT and ORCL for the heck of it using IB's backfill
and I did get some pretty weird "spikes" on the 1-min (yes, I had my
spike filter on Jerry) but didn't have any gaps.

Hmm... That's strange. I get the same "spikes" on the 1-min using
IQFeed backfill in the same place where I was getting them using IB's backfill.

What are the odds of that happening?... (I am not using the "B" version though)...

Man-O-Man I wish I knew how to post a chart here. But, being the computer dummy that I am, I don't. All I can say is, on a 2-day 1-minute chart on highly liquid symbols, there are gaps all over the place, until I zoom in on a particular section. Then, it looks normal.

This morning, the 3 minute charts are back to normal. Maybe tomorrow the 1 minute charts will be okay. Weird.

hmm my yhoo charts aren't backfilling on auto either unless i do it manually and the spikes on some of the charts are a pain and ruin other studies that i have on them.

Guys,

Thats like saying "my car doesn't work right" to a machanic, without him seeing the car and without giving further details :)

Please send the details to support@quotetracker.com

Include a picture of the chart in the email as well as:
QT version (exact version, not "Latest")
Main quote source used
Backfill source used
CHARTS.INI file from QT folder

Awkward weird software - SarahG June 01, 2006 5:30 AM

Reliability 1
Ease of Use 1
Performance 2
Documentation 2
Worth the Money 2

This software is hard to navigate and makes no sense from the start. It is programmed very poorly. It is not user friendly. The help manual does not answer questions but instead it avoids the actual question. For instance, the help manual doesn't even say how to bring up a simple chart. I downloaded it, tried it, and was very disapointed. And I immedietly deleted it off my computer. I wasted 30 minutes of my time trying to figure out this bad software. Software should be easy to figure out from the start and self explanatory(especially stock charting software). Which this sofware is not. It isn't even good for free. I would rather pay for good charting software with good features and easy to understand than having to waste valuable time trying to figure out this awkward software that is poorly programmed and visually disfunctional. "
While I agree at first the software may not be the most intuitive thing I've ever used (and my desire not to read the manual I'm sure didnt help), this review seems overly harsh considering the price. I don't see how anyone can give free software a "Worth the money" rating of 2.

I wonder if this is the case where Sarah just wasnt willing to spend enough time to get familiar with QT.

1) how more intuative or self explanatory can double click to get the chart be? or right click?

2) the 2nd link on the very first screen you see in the help file is for intraday charts. The very first paragraph tells you EXACTLY how to open a chart, so there goes that comment

Yes, giving QT 30-min and expecting to be able to know/use all it's
features is like trying to learn Geometry in High School in 30-min.

I've been using QT since the last century so I know it pretty well.

Whatever you put into QT in time you will get out of it in usability.

(Good thing she didn't even take the time to try using the Paint bars,
it would of blown her mind completely)...:p

Yea, even my rebuttal probably wasnt fair to you. I just vaguely remember not being able to immediately figure out some things the first few times I used it (can't remember what)

Once I did figure it out (without bothering to read the help) I found it quite intuitive. Sometime's you just have to get on the same wavelength as the developer with software.

Hope you didnt take my comments the wrong way, I love QT!

Edit: BTW, I PM'd SarahG this thread link so she could have a chance to respond, I hope she shows up.
