Medved Quotetracker or Sierra

I am curious. You say quotetracker is the best but have you tried Sierra or have you tried Ensign? And what is it best for ... what kind of trading and timescale do you use?

I once used QT and found it ok for what I was doing but it is pretty limited compared with Sierra or (more so) Ensign. I will keep looking from time to time but I wouldnt say it was "the best". LOL ... I added while u were replying. I would say that I like the way it handles lines better than Sierra although I like Sierras flexibility wrt dlls etc a lot more.

i guess "best" is subjective. I'ved used eSignal and Tradestation and prophet.net.

Though eSignal and TS were both good and did the job well, they were a bit pricey for what I needed. Subscribing to various exchanges with its fees and monthly platform fees,etc. For my style of trading, QT is adequate. Maybe for someone else it might not be sufficient.

but you can't argue with the price. And it's really stable and just feeds off of IB.

overall, a very good package I think.

That would depend if the quote source in question supports continuous fututures symbols. For example, eSignal datafeed does. As far as going as far back as possible. once we add that capability (going beyond 10 days), then yes, you will be able to do that.

2) Can we save chart settings for the historical charts? like default it to certain indicators, etc.

Configure one chart, then right click on it and select "Save As Default"

dude! You gotta get off your cynical horse. I'm in no way affliated with QT. I just revisited QT in the last month or so. I've used it briefly about a few years ago but I discontinued.

But I'm glad I revisited and used it. It saved me a BUNDLE! And for my type of trading, it's sufficient. So, just chill!

is there a good way to print the charts? I did the print scrn and paste it under Paint.

It doesn't fit in one page. It cuts the graph into 2 pages,etc.

do you plan to add the print functionality?

They are changing, probably faster than Sierrachart that I also use. For example, pivots for which you programmed a SC dll are standard in QT. For a free software that's quite neat...
 
MiscTrader - you would want to resize the chart first or set it to scale to fit when printing. You may want to use SnagIt or something similar meanwhile.

We probably will add printing in the future. do not have an ETA

I hardly think that chart printing stops a program from being "prime time" when it is geared for intraday tracking. So, to answer your question, its prime time now.
