'Medicare for all' could save businesses trillions of dollars

Our health should never have been attached to employment in the first place. Healthcare will never meet the fundamental requirements of a "free market" because demand is inelastic. All other industrialized nations except the United Sates have realized that. We are the laggards. All we have to do is copy the best and end this foolishness. It's obvious why we don't. The people that will make less money if we were to do that will fight tooth and nail to prevent it; just as those who who benefited from slavery fought tooth and nail to maintain it; just as the airlines fought against Amtrack and fight against high speed rail; just as the automobile industry fought public transportation; just as the pest control industry fought clordane; just as the cigarette industry denied that smoking caused lung cancer; just as the liquor industry fought prohibition; just as the arms industry fights peace and promotes fear, etc. etc. etc.

We are a nation of crises. We don't act until there is a crisis. Until then we maintain the status quo. Is it time to act on health care. Logically it is way past time. But we don't respond to logic. We are waiting for a crisis. Is the crisis here. I don't know. I suppose we will find out at the ballot box.

Exactly.

Let’s just give everything away for free.
Food, healthcare, automobiles, clothes, cell phones, tv’s, furniture.
That way everyone will have whatever they want and nobody will have more so it’s fair.

Sounds awesome.
Don’t worry about little things like who the fuck is paying for everything. The important thing is we will all be briefly happy, then forever miserable, together.

Ditto!

Young people don't get this at all. (Yet another reason to raise the voting age to 30*.)

* When I was young, I thought it righteous and fair that the voting age was lowered to 18.... "If I'm old enough to serve in the military and perhaps get killed for doing so, I should be allowed to vote... and to buy beer", so I thought. As I've matured, I've come to understand that young people express only what they selfishly "want". They don't have enough life experience to be entrusted with something so important as the vote.)

Lol...Tony Stark finally put me on ignore. I was wondering why the forum suddenly gained about 20 IQ points recently. All his posts disappeared!
