You should vote for the guy who isn't a fraud. as you are implying in this post.
And in the other post, you said the the republican party is challenging this guy for answers.
So why, in you're opening post, did you say "welcome to the republican party in north carolina"?
It clearly is not a Tea Party controlled republican party problem. It is one guy who is a fraud.
It was YOU, DUDE, who attempted to make this an indictment of the entire tea party, which you despise.
When you started this thread, and the kansas thread, i didn't challenge you on it. I let you speak your peace.
And when you've disparaged Christian beliefs, I didn't challenge you on those posts, either.
But when I take the tea party's side on things, you decided you were going to challenge me on them.
It all leads back to what I said previously. Conservatives have generally supported moderates whenever moderates have been the candidate. But when a conservative is the candidate, moderates cannot wait to find a reason to run from them. Remember Akin, Murdoch and ODonnell? Republicans might control the senate right now if moderates hadn't run for cover at the first sign of democrat ridicule of these candidates.
I had to listen to John Mccain suspend his campaign in 08 so he could propose that the federal gov't buy up all mortgage debt in the US. That was his solution. I still voted for the bumb. But now I'm done voting for bumbs when we get absolutely nothing in return.
Before you tell me that akin and odonell weren't worth of support, keep in mind that the democrats went all in on a candidate who lied about being an Indian in order to get Gov't money in her profession.
Let alone democrats going hell bent for leather for a candidate for president that uses phony documents to run.
Which leads me to my final point. It is Boehner and Mcconnell and the moderate GOP side who decided to take the democrats side and let a phony using stolen and forged documents sit in the oval office without a challenge.
That's when i decided that i will never support another moderate again as long as i live.
If they will help a fraud sit in the oval office for the other party, then it is bat-crap crazy to think we can trust them to take this country in the right direction.
I despise the moderates just like you despise the tea party. But i never started a fight with you. You started it with me.
I am sorry you feel so offended FHL, but sometimes the best thing to do is to step up and tell people exactly the way it is - despite it hurting their delicate feelings.
Here is the painful truth - the Tea Party has peaked and is waning. In ten years it will be a forgotten political movement similar to the other failed parties that now litter the graveyard of U.S. political history; the Whigs, Bull Moose party, the Greenback party, the Vegetarian party, the Reform party, and many others.
There are the number of issues where the Tea Party candidates were aligned with traditional Republican values such as limiting abortions, supporting traditional marriage, allowing prayer in schools, voter ID requirements, and reducing federal overreach. However the social issues are becoming less important to mainstream business Republicans - so forcing an agenda in states built around these issues is having less impact over time.
The "moderates" have given the "Tea Party" candidates an opportunity to show-case their policies. The Republican party spent a lot of money and time getting Tea Party candidates elected to local, state, and federal office in the 2010/2012 election cycles. This provided the Tea Party with a golden opportunity to demonstrate what they could do in a number of states such as Kansas and North Carolina where they now held a majority at the state level.
Unfortunately when voted into power in a number of states, there are three key items that has turned the Tea Party experiment into a full-fledged disaster:
1) The inability of Tea Party candidates to understand basic financial accounting. Reducing the tax rates does not increase overall tax revenue. All landed up with large revenue shortfalls. Repeating over and over again "the overall tax revenue will go up because we stimulated economic activity" does not magically force the failed concept to work, it only angers the mainstream populace of the state who pay taxes and expect basic services. Proclaiming how you "starved the beast" is not going to help when I can't get a business license processed so I can create new jobs by hiring people.
2) The Tea Party candidates have simply rubber-stamped the bills written by ALEC as they rushed them through the state assemblies. No original thinking is done about creating bills that meet the particular needs of the state. The Tea Party has become little more than an organization that pushes the agenda of the Koch brothers and other wealthy billionaires. This has come across as a little out of touch with the mainstream people when the state taxes for the top 10% were reduced and the effective taxes for the bottom 90% increased.
3) Parents will forgive a lot of things. Having 39 kids in a classroom where there are only 30 desks and 9 kids must sit on the floor - is not one of them. When the education policies you pushed at a state level lead to a public school system that has no books, fleeing teachers, and crowded classrooms - your response better be better than pushing traditional party lines about "efficiency" and "putting all the kids in private schools".
Sadly there were a number of concepts where the Tea Party added valuable ideas. I expect these ideas will continue to have part in the political consciousness moving forward - but the party itself as a whole is heading for the junk yard.
There is a need for reform in Washington especially in regards to the federal budget. The harsh reality is that solving the budget issues will require both increasing taxes and reducing spending. The
Simpson-Bowles plan was the best starting point that I have seen. Unfortunately we have one party in Washington that does not want to reduce spending, and the other party in Washington that does not want to increase taxes. Both will be required to have a long term sustainable balanced budget at the federal level.
