This is just like the tax fight. They just are desperate for the pain to stop. Their idea is to hand this lit firecracker to obama and let it blow up in his hand.
Ironically, Obama shuld be proposing alternatives to prioritize spending so the cuts are not indiscriminate. Of course, that would require leadership, so forget it. His idea of leadership is having his entire cabinet run around warning that the sky will fall in and children will be dying in the street and airplanes falling out of the sky, unless every last dime of government spending increases is preserved.
Seems he already has a handful of them.... all with VERY long fuses. Perhaps long enough to hand off to the next guy.

The NBC/WSJ poll released today shows that only 21 % supports the sequester cuts .Obama and the media has now gotten the public so scared of spending cuts that only 21 % support a cut of 85 billion out of a 3.5 trillion + budget .All republican politicians talk about is cuts ,cuts ,cuts and now Obama has only 21 % of the people supporting that position.Republicans can get their cuts and unlike the fiscal cliff Obama has no leverage on them at all to stop it .Republicans have 2 choices, take all the blame for the consequences of the cuts or sell out the main position they have been running on the last 4 years.If they take the cuts it pisses off enough people in their own party like the military industrial complex and businesses that depend on government spending that they might lose The House.If they don't take the cuts how can they go forward preaching spending cuts when they had 1.2 trillion in spending cuts and didn't take it without looking like complete morons

4 years ago ole Mitch was boldly stating they were going to make Obama a 1 term President.Obama is now in his second term and Mitch is constantly on the Senate floor waving the white flag LOL !!!
