Casualties are always difficult to accept, but let's not forget that we are talking about professional/volunteer soldiers, whose sacrifice resulted in two terrible dictatorships being removed from power, two nations being free with a good chance of advancing towards true democracy, and, as a result, the vital Middle East region becoming more stable.
Let us also not forget that Iraq and Afghanistan lost many more lives - is that sacrifice worth their freedom? Or, do we, Americans, feel that they don't count, that our blood is of superior value?
How about our war of Independence or WWII? Do we lament those casualties too? Do we regret fighting those wars too? It's sad, but this is how freedom is, most often, earned.
