Quote from mxjones:
For everything you hear on the news, talk radio, blogs, and comments on the Internet, what it really comes down to is this:
If you are happy with what has happened over the past eight years - happy with the economy, happy with Americans dying in a war that was entered into based on lies, happy with the continuing influence of religious zealots telling you how you must live your life - what you can and cannot do, happy with the way we treat the less fortunate in our country, happy with our standing in the world and the way we are viewed by people outside the U.S., and happy with electing someone who will (most likely) not be alive in 10+ years to face the consequences of his decisions...if you are happy with all of that, vote for McCain.
If you are not, vote for Obama.
Quote from CollegeTrader:
Obama is going to win. Did you hear his speech. Man he is really inspirational. We do need change in America. Obama cant afford to mess up. He is setting a precedent for anyone else behind him of any color to step up and lead. I would love for the two candidates to have a debate but in a way i dont think it would be fair for McCain.
Quote from AlpineTrout:
I was going to vote for Barr too, but this woman is very impressive...........as somebody else said, OBama's toast.
Brilliant move!!

McCain's contract on Intrade is trading around 40. Go for it. I am waiting for it to get in the high 40s so I can short it. I need someone on the other side of that trade so start buying please.

Quote from Gringinho:
cuz69,
with or without McCain, there is still congress and senate. Saying that McCain equals Bush is clearly saying that republicans are republicans. If Obama is to be successful, his only chance is going for the political issues and political direction. Therefore "change" is what he needs to emphasize, as well as show that a vote for republicans is a vote for "no change".
Quote from clacy:
Ya think so? Then why has Obama ducked McCains call for several town-hall debates? Instead, Obama only agreed to three debates. Mac wanted much more.
The reason is that Obama, delivers great speaches, but he doesn't do nearly as well in debates. And I'm not talking about Democratic primary debates either. There was no difference in policy amoung the Dems, but obviously McCain will push the issues.
All of a sudden, univeral health care and affordable tuition, don't sound quite as good when you have to explain how to pay for them.
With $9 TRILLION in debt, there is no way that we can afford Obama's agenda, without raising taxes significantly.
And by the way, there aren't enough wealthy people to only raise taxes on people making $250k/year or more.
