I think it is very likely that the Russians will test an obviously inexperienced Obama just as the Soviets tested an inexperienced JFK. They also tested Jimmy Carter. Like any predator, they can smell weakness and are emboldened by it.
This is the flip side of my concern with McCain. They know not to fuck around with McCain, just like they knew not to test Reagan. He is an unreconstructed cold warrior. However, times change. We lack the ability now to confront Russia, certainly not in their back yard. At the end of the Cold War, we had leverage over them, but we wasted it rubbing their noses in their defeat. Now they are rolling in oil money, control europe's natgas supply and have emerged as patrons of some of our most troublesome adversaries.

You talk is though its easy to kill a dictator or enemy of the US.You don't think the US tried or has tried to kill saddam or Bin Laden etc?
Bottom line if McCain was in Kennedy's position during the Cuban missile crisis,Russia and The US would have been raining down nuclear bombs on each other

Why dont we have the ability to Confront Russia ?
Because dumbass Bush was more concerned with making all his friends and associates rich with his energy polices and War in Iraq While China and Russia has been building their Military and economies
No one but the most aggressive and oppressive of leaders in the world hope that McCain gets elected. Russia has improved relations greatly with the rest of the world, and there is nothing to gain for them that could justify hoping for McCain to win. Not for russian military interests, nor for those still clinging to the old socialist ideals.
The world really needs a very different international policy from the US now, or things will get much worse for everyone. Economic stimulus is needed - and warmongers is not the answer for world prosperity or capitalist principles.
