In nominal dollar value, perhaps, but in euro's for instance? No.do they plan to never cover their shorts?
The man has some points. He's right, technically the US is already bankrupt. And yes, whether that will happen, is up to the foreigners (asians), who supplied the money. And yes, there's almost no production in the US, the US is a consumption economy.
But he's wrong on one big, major point: these foreigners do not want the US to go bankrupt ! In fact, think of it: China is the production plant of the US. If the US goes bankrupt, who does China sell its products to ? If the US goes bankrupt, then Asia/China will lose all their investments, they wont'get anymore interest and they can't sell their products anymore. In other words: US going bankrupt is VERY bad for these 'foreigners'. So, there are VERY, VERY strong forces in play here, that will do everything to prevent the US from going bankrupt. And that sir, is the only reason why it hasn't happened yet.
