Quote from bellman:
Is $600/barrell oil really that crazy? I reckon with inflation that would only translate to about $8/gallon for the US consumer in today's dollars.
That is the of the makes me really just pity the americans who complain at paying $8s per gallon!!
If you think thats expensive come to the UK and travel by taxi here!!
An average car can do 32miles to the gallon, so with gasoline at $8s that equals $4s to travel 1mile!
In UK with gasoline at its current $1.4 (roughly £1), to travel 1mile in a taxi will cost you minimum £6 ($10s).
So we are 'currently' already paying and affording to pay $20s per gallon!!
And thats just druing the daytime, you travel after 11pm on a friday or saturday night you pay over $30s per gallon.
So you have got it ridiculously easy already.
