Don't know about "better on eyes", but DVI display on LCD is often, but not always, sharper than VGA display.

I will have to look into the Nvidia cards. The Matrox cards I originally looked at were very expensive.

I have had great luck buying with eBay. I have bought 6 used Matrox MMS cards with eBay. They were a fraction of the new price and all are still working great.
