Matrox G550 PCIe X1

Quote from FuriousInvestor:

Ok I found my answer. Just found out Nvidia will be shipping out the NVS 440 card on pcie x1. I can wait for that to come out.

Thanks for the reply!

That NVS 440... is it dual or quad? VGA or DVI?

If I buy a DELL XPS with an NVIDIA® GeForceTM 6800Dual 256MB PCI Card, and need a 3rd or 4th monitor, does the second Card have to be the identical? The Quad Cards are a fortune.

I am a Plug and Play kinda guy and appreciate all of your help and/or best solution in buying a new machine.

It will be Quad DVI, and will be able to support the resolution of 24 inch LCDs. Not bad huh? Forget this Matrox, I'm waiting for that card...

Sounds GREAT!... just hope you don't have to take out a 2nd mortgage to afford it. :D

2nd card does not have to be identical. Suggest you stick with Nvidia for your 2nd card to avoid potential driver issues.

Get two NVS285 dual DVI which will drive 4 digital monitors and for trading are perfectly good.

The expensive gaming 3d cards are specialized for 3d grahics and financials are 2d. The NVS285 are also reasonable and Nvidia has software for multiple monitors.

You can just plug the extra card in. Dell, HP, or other manufacturers will sell you a computer with the 1st card, just make sure it's the dual DVI 285 64mb NVS285 as their are different configurations and then buy the 2nd after market plug and play.
