That was a very nice trade! :)

Remember what I said about the "move size". For ES that's 5-6 points at a time. Dow is probably 50 to 60 points at a time. Dow moved down from around 11240... 50 points... took it to around 11190. That see it bounced. But only bounced half the move. Then went on to a stage-2 down run. Another 50 points. From around 11220 to 11170 or so.

Very well done! :)

Struggling with the exit today. I had a “not too bad” trade, but I felt like I almost had a heart attack holding the position –Yes, even in SIM, I can hear my heartbeat when the retrace almost bouncing right back at my face… I wish I am that type of person that trading to them is human nature—they just don’t care about being stopped out, exiting early, missing profit or taking losses. I am soooo hoping I can be a heartless cold bitch while trading!! Probably it is a good idea to talk to myself again while managing a trade. And also learn to repeat the same trade that was taken today again and again. So I can get used to the emotion battle then feel no emotion in the long run. Hit the target. +40Pts

Hi Matcha,

Congrats to that excellent and very profitable trade! You sure had demonstrated that you can do it - had the staying power to hold the trade till your intended profit target through thick and thin. It's quite a trade. Ha Ha! You sure don't need to be a heartless cold "b" while trading. It's so not like you. :) :) :)

I wasn't as "brave" as you were. I took a short trade right after the next pullback at around 12:05 pst. Made 3 ES points. Took another short trade with a small profit. But I had 2 losing long trades earlier in the morning, they both were a bit too early and got stopped out. Ended the day with +1.00 ES pts.

Good trading tomorrow! Repeat the same process again to capture another big one. You will soon get use to that type of trading.

dear matcha, congratulations to your excellent trade. I have several questions: 1) for me, i may not take the short you have taken because the market was in a uptrend after the gap up filled, and there is no significant confirmation for the trendline breakdown. What makes you take the short and hold for your target? 2) what are those blue, green, yellow dot lines are? They seem work very well.
p.s saw your writing about the question 1 .

The hard work of trading (for me) was finding a method/system that fit my personality. Since my perfectionism is in fact a major part of who I am as a person, I've redirected this trait into my trading by following my system as perfectly as I can. Strive for progress not perfection. :)

Inspiring post! Thank you,WF!
Just like I studied the entry in each setups. I am going to study exit and stops in each set ups... It's going to take long time... I would admit that there will be no perfection. As long as avg 20Pts a day, and trade with no stress, it is the my definition of "trading perfection"!

Thank you Sifu, It was so hard for me to hold through the retrace.... Next time I will try to hold the strong trend a little longer to the key levels.

Yellow dotty line is YTD close
Blue Dotty line is YTD open
Green dotty line is H of YTD
Red Dotty is L of YTD
Dark blue dotty line is Daily Pivot point.

Sorry, I think it will be easier for me to post the chart to explain why I short here. Small box is the 60 min chart

Matcha

I love that 20 bar EMA :) Having that orange line between your stop  and the price action must have been comforting at some level.

Very nice analysis, you read the PA on that trade as if you were waving a magic wand and controlling the entire index. :p I also enjoyed the chart you posted for LuckyLucy.

Ask yourself where all that anxiety is coming from, and relax.

Well done, bravo
