Boli - Your Destiny comment floored me - You are THE MAN. Many years ago Neiderhoffer gave a key note talking about the relationship between trading, music, and other things he categorized as "elemental" activities. My sense is you (and many other great posters here) see markets in that way. The rest of us stand in awe :) Thank you.

Thank you for your kind words FMR. The path of struggle is full of bitterness and frustrations. Fruits came only from many years of not giving up and learning from self and past mistakes. The rests contribute to the 90-95% failure rate statistics.

The character of XiaoLongNui is Witty and Smart ... she's also Super Cool and Calm even in the worst dire situations ..she remains calm & cool ..she only has emotion/feelings for Yang Guo :)... that's why i told you b4... put/pour all your emotions into a cat or a dog or people or flower but when trading .. You MUST control your emotions!!!
.....

Sorry sis ~~~... :) I would not use "witty" to describe XiaoLongNui. She was an ice-cold, emotionless woman from her upbringing. She lived inside a grave/underground-dwelling, taught to purge all of her feelings. Witty would imply humorous. And humorous she was not. :)

What markets do you plan to re-engage stocks, index futures?

i'm not a daytrader .. we're trading mid-term to long-term & have big capital to play with .. so we're doing ok.

i'm a chinese lady so i have not break a heart LOL

~~~ - American man lust after asian women. I chuckle because most never realize they are likely over-matched. As far as Chinese ladies go - American men are definitely over matched :) I'm happy with my American wife - She's a great match for me (LOL - Or at least she makes it seem that way).
This thread isn't about me, but I'll briefly reply. Right now, my capital base is small (~ 15K) so from a risk perspective I have to learn to trade on the time frame a cat's wisker beyond day trading. As you know day trading is about big lots w/ tight stops. I need to find a middle ground because I can't do big lots. All of my readings / preparation from years ago has been more aligned with the goal of being a campaign style trader (like ~~~). That game is directional - futures with underlying options protection. I'm not ready for that yet...
I've traded many different symbols over time - Right now I'm reviewing long term charts to look for the best opportunities. And to assess which markets will be safe for me to trade given my limited capital. I'll PM my list to anyone interested when I'm done with my review.
In the past I've made money in currencies, energy complex, and metals. In all cases good trades came from reviewing the macro elements involved and positioning on the correct side of the trade. Macro means little for shorter term trading. And right now the macro landscape feels like another planet - totally foreign. Moving forward, I believe futures (commodities) will expand as an alternative asset class. We've already seen examples of the trades inability to absorb too much liquidity. This is one reason why I've decided to come back. Like that old Chinese curse - "These are interesting times"
I've made money with stocks (small account) but the analysis is too hard. I've never made any money with index contracts which is why my eyes are so wide open here. All of your have been able to do something here that I can't - so I'm all ears :)
Now lets keep this Matcha's show.... She's a smart lady and a great role model... And all of you are THE BEST for helping her (and the rest of us) along :)
Market has been ranged bound between Friday’s consolidation areas for most of the day. Thought today would be those type of late day break out day. Market did breakout in last hour, but it breakout to the downside.
8:30 Took a short trade. D/T with topping tails. Price traded below VWAP. But a D/T then turned out to be a D/B finds more buyers…I was stopped out.
2nd trade was a breakout pullback trade. Stopped out at B/E
Last trade was long at D/B pattern. The D/B pattern turned to be a bearflag, It again ran my stop. Then market started to sell-off. I didn’t chase the breakdown. It happened very fast. I could find any retrace to short.
Today’s PnL: -$92, 3 trades
There was a strong trend line to the upside that was finally broken on the late-day pullback, but price consolidated in a narrow range (flag) without completely breaking down the previous trend, so there was an equal chance price could go either way. It's best to let price confirm whether to go long or short by playing the break out of the range using stop orders. This doesn't guarantee success (I took a whippin' early today playing breakout in both directions), but at least waiting for the break gives you confirmation of who's in control and late in the day the professionals will drive price in a pretty decent trajectory out of a range, or through a previous S/R level.
Hi Matcha,
Wow! I had a similar LONG trade right at your last trade. My only trade of the day and lost 1.75 ES points. Looking back at my charts, even though the 5 min & 1 min stochastic are showing O/S, I should have paid attention to the 15 minute chart which was on an early downward slope, signaling the high probability trades were to the SHORT side. I gave myself an "F" on this trade. I should base my trade in the direction of the larger timeframe. May be next time, if I don't see things line up in these timeframes, I will refrain from pulling the trigger!
Better trading tomorrow!
