As for foolish, I'd expect no other opinion from the guy who said not wearing a mask was the same as putting a gun to the head and pulling the trigger.
Why don't you go ask some first line healthcare workers what they think of people who refuse to wear a mask.

and change them after every patient because the data shows dirty clothes masks are dangerous... and even then they are not sure clothes masks are protecting anybody...

My doctor told me, mask-less, what she thought of the risk to healthy adults who have excellent Vit D levels. Her answer would (apparently) surprise you.
So you go to a doctor which does not follow proper public health guidance... figures.
I go to the same doctor I always have for my executive physical. And I was pleased to hear her opinion that verified my own.
There ARE enormous differences in masks but epidemiology is about populations not individuals. That masks have not been given their full due as an urgent engineering not a medical matter is failure of government policy in most countries.
From the perspective of epidemiology, a surgical mask (there are several grades, medical to actual surgical) will be effective in slowing the spread and allowing for variolation.
In simple terms, variolation means that typically a smaller initial dose or several small doses of a pathogen allow someone to be infected without developing as severe side effects. It's what they relied on before vaccines were developed. It wasn't great, just a lot better than nothing.
So lower quality masks "work" they reduce the severity of illness across the general population, individual results will vary. You won't see the reduction in total infections you might hope for but you will see a lot less significantly symptomatic.
This is what the low Q but high Qanon cons can't grasp on those things that pass for their minds.
Still, it would be infinitely better if Biden starts a rapid average mask quality improvement program while laying out minimal standards. Get the fecking Myth busters on it, any level of increased edge will save lives.

I have mentioned variolation a dozen times, it never gets picked up for praise or argument.
This blindspot is kind of weird. The cons being pure ignorance and unable to know anything not fed to them by the propoganda can't even attack the idea as its not discussed by their programmers at all.
