Masking Outdoors? NYT confirms moron status of GWB and friends

The Flu has been just as deadly, but it was subtle.
When was the last time hospitals, all over the world, have been overwhelmed by regular flu patients.

People need to stop pretending to be experts.
People who choose to consider themselves experts, with no basis in reality,
should stop posting about their "expertise."

They are adversely influencing dummies.

And in this case, those dummies are perpetuating the spread,
adversely affecting the rest of us.

The whole 6 feet social distancing thing is so stupid it is mind-blowing.

It is just crazy that there are so many idiots in the world.

Close down everything except for Walmart and grocery stores. So fucking stupid.

The 6-foot social distancing rule probably came from a bet. Someone probably said that people are so fucking stupid that I am going to make up a rule that completely defies all logic and reason and I bet the screaming dumbasses will believe it.

MIT researchers say you’re no safer from Covid indoors at 6 feet or 60 feet in new study challenging social distancing policies

“We argue there really isn’t much of a benefit to the 6-foot rule, especially when people are wearing masks,” Bazant said in an interview. “It really has no physical basis because the air a person is breathing while wearing a mask tends to rise and comes down elsewhere in the room so you’re more exposed to the average background than you are to a person at a distance.”

What did MIT say about 600 yards?

Did they look into 60 miles?

And once again.... the article discusses "brief outdoor interactions leading to Covid transmission."

The article is not about outdoor crowds without masks where social distancing is not possible. Such as protests, concerts, crowded beaches, etc. While to probability of outdoor spread is less than indoor spread (by a factor of 10X to 20x) in documented studies -- there are still plenty of documented cases of outdoor spread in crowds. Including all the instances of outdoor spread in the Carolinas at protests -- which I have previously provided the health warnings for issued by cities urging all the protestors to be tested.

I will note that when I go for an outdoor walk on the trails in my neighborhood I do not wear a mask. Nor do any others. We are all socially distanced and at most will pass somebody by briefly. Masks for socially distanced activities have never been required (nor even requested in state guidelines) in North Carolina and most other states. However masks are required at outdoor events where you are not socially distanced. If I want to a local concert outdoors (which are currently back in many parks / arenas in our state) then I would wear a mask (and the facility would require it).
Stop the garbage posting.

lets take a look...
present the data... showing outdoor spread as opposed to indoor spread or someone having covid they could have gotten somewhere else.

you don't think they should have some contact tracing proving this after millions of cases?

Nonsense.

While indoor spread is 10x to 20x more likely than outdoor spread -- there are plenty of documented cases of outdoor spread in non-socially distanced crowds not wearing masks.

Let's take a look at the White House Rose Garden, the ACE speedway in Elon, NC, or the outdoor protests in the Carolinas with health warnings issued by cities about COVID outbreaks.

Of course, the typical idiotic response from COVID-deniers when pointing out these cases of outside spread is "prove they caught COVID at this outdoor event'.

In the same way, the COVID-denier response to a school teacher dying of COVID is "prove they caught it at school".

This cycle of denial of basic facts is sickening... the people pushing COVID-denial nonsense should be ashamed.

Nice article... but the assumption the MIT people are making is that there is aerosol transmission indoors.

The CDC says the vast majority of transmission is through droplets within 6 feet.

If that is wrong... produce the data and the studies...

Accepting expert" opinions on something that can be studied is silly without the data.

Let them produce the data so we can all assess their opinion.
