Let's go to the pro-life example. Using your logic I am doing the right thing to watch as I believe innocent children are murdered in their mother's womb? I say 'no'. I say that because of my beliefs I must act - I must do something because I believe it is murder. I believe it is morally reprehensible to sit idly by and watch evil triumph over my community.

And I assume you do too. If you saw abortion the same way I did, I suspect that you would think as I do. And that's the point: your morality is fundamentally different than mine.

 
What bugs me is that total "pro-choice" like to think of themselves as neutral to morality and that is simply not possible. Not doing anything is just as much a moral decision as doing something.

Libertarian ethical philosophy is essentially the moral path that we have taken for the last 30-40 years. It has had a definite impact on our society.

Are our families better? Were we better off 40-50 years ago? Are our streets more safe? Are our kids better adjusted?

Everyone has to answer that for themselves...
 
speaking of abortion--- my view is that since the foetus has a unique DNA code, etc. from the mothership--it is indeed a seperate and distinct human being hence having certain rights, one of which is not to be terminated. this has nothing to do with religion and is congruent with my libertarian/ individual rights/ freedom stance on most issues.

i disagree. there is a WORLD of difference between consensual sex and terminating life. prostitution existed for 1000's of years, i don't think the freedom loving jefferson would have outlawed it.

yes, and ironically, if the Libertarian party thought as you did and took a stand I would be sorely tempted to join in spite of all I've said.

By the way, there's a perfect example of what you're talking about in England: a 24 year old England curate challenged legally the 24 week old abortion of a child with a cleft palate!

Sorry, but I think all the the people sucking their thumbs and burying their head in the sand are wrong. I think this 24 year old curate is right

If you'll look thru my posts, I never once used any religious arguments. This is the fact you guys aren't facing: non-Christians do not want prostitution in their neighborhoods either! You can trash talk Christians all you want, but it does nothing for your argument:

In fact, I challenged you guys to 1) explain to me how prostitution has any socially redeeming values and how it will help children and families and 2) would you want a Mustang Ranch next to your 4B2B home? and 3) explain why NV is the only state with legalized prostitution if it's so popular with non-Christians?

You lost me on this argument. The ancient Romans used to leave unwanted babies on the wall to die. Christians were known for rescuing them and raising them.

Are we supposed to model our culture after the ancient Romans - allow messed-up Moms to leave their unwanted children to die in some predeterminded location? I hope your answer is 'no'.

Again, you can justify any heinous act using this argument (if I understand what you're saying).
