Anybody think MarketWatch Option Trader would be a useful educational tool? It's written by Lawrence McMillan.

For $99, I can't see how you could go wrong. The newsletter does have actionable ideas. Of course, actually being profitable is another topic.
 
You could probably learn a lot if you set up all his trades on sim and followed them for awhile. His book was an excellent instructional book for someone without a strong academic foundation in BS and options. I have issues with most traders who post their options strats...usually its difficult to replicate and to manage exactly how they do it. If they give you a good idea then play with it but come up with your own strat and how you plan to manage it. It should also make sense in the low vol market that we are in.

IOW for 99 bucks it would be interesting to see how he does stuff but I wouldn't mirror his trades ( with real money).
 
That's a very good idea. I'm trying not to over trade in this vol environment. At the same time, I want to keep evaluating trades. I'll do that. Thanks.
 
Any idea how it compares to Mc Millan newsletter ?? I'm thinking to subscribe to an option newsletter with actionable ideas, and follow it with a portion of my account, for diversification and learning purpose.

Any advice ? I definetely can pay 100+ per month if it has some decent track record
 
Surely, he would not dilute the value of his more expensive newsletter.

However, it is unavoidable that his fundamental view of the market will be expressed at the same time and unavoidably cause strategic overlaps between the 2 newsletters.

I think the $99 one is a good way to test him out.
 
i see u can get a free trial and cancel within 30 days, so that's a plus.

however i do not think there is anything to be gained in this newsletter, or any other newsletter for that matter. if larry mcmillan could amass his riches trading, then he would not be sharing his secrets.

i would rather u spend the 99/month on technology or data feed; something tangible.
 
Its $99 a year

I have followed MacMillan for years, occasionally subscribing to his newsletter etc.

I have found that he is about as good as I am in his projections and if you follow his trades you will be successful (but not very) in most years.

He's probably worth the $99 if you trade him, but not worth it just to get another newsletter.

I am interested in McMillan to see his methods of structuring his trades for specific outllooks and see how he would manage trades. I think the livevol blog by Ophir Gotlieb does that. But, I won't dig into his archives until I get the livevol platform.

You have good experience with Zacks? It's a very general newsletter. I would consult Hulbert for that. Anyway, we are getting off track from options.

I guess there's many insightful blogs, but I wanna see trades from entry to management to exits. Usually from stakeholders, not random picks. If there's intermediate to advanced education on the side, great. Essentially, mentoring on the cheap.
