Is this real money, or a fantasy trading game?
either way, these contests are rather silly :confused: and shouldn't be taken seriously. -- they only tell half-truths and doesn't necessarily translate to real world performance.
 
Professional traders never brag about their winners. If you are are a pro you are supposed to win therefore you shouldnt celebrate. Plus if you trade at a firm its courtesy not to celebrate, the guy next to you may have taken the other side. The 2 best traders I know never celebrate, the most I have heard them say is 'had a good day'. Just sayin.

I am not a professional trader. But, with thst said, you are correct.

When i did trade professionally at a firm, ill never forget my biggest winner. It was huge for me, made my year. I went into the manager's office expecting to be praised--- however the opposite happened. I was chastised for taking too much risk and for not having respect for the people/person who lost the money. He said-- it could have easily been you on the losing side of that one.

I agree...it's usually a sign of an amateur or gambler to "celebrate" (or gloat or brag) after a win or big win.

I was like that when I first started -- now, I just kind of smile inside humbly :) (no fist pump or champagne or anything...just Business as usual.)

So how come you didnt learn from your ex boss? Its trading etiquette if you trade for a firm to never openly celebrate winners, thats what I have been taught and your boss was trying to teach you.

The firm boss will know if you made money taking excessive risk and obv he needs to protect the firm. Anyone can make money taking excessive risk.
