it amazes me how TRENDY being short has become.....all that money they printed will be used for fire in the white house fireplace. SHORT AT WILL.

one of the clues that i used was receiving several hedge fund solicitations that went out of their way to say we are experts in "shorting" over and over. they were very blatant and in your face kind of statements. i have never seen this previously and combined with other factors, clearly indicated a bottom was in.
i use many tools and factors in making these macro calls--this was just one piece.

Perhaps the first piece of the puzzle is in, as MS so eloquently stated above.

Where is leadership? It has yet to emerge. Perhaps it will soon, IF buyers continue to come into the market. Are you a psychic?
Gainers are completely filled with lagging industry groups.
So go figure and STILL lead the masses down the same old pitfalls.
I encourage those to keep watching for leaders with top %-tile technicals and fundamentals, breaking out of sound bases in higher volume.
It hasn't happened yet, in fact leaders are few and far between - but can emerge at any time.

Yeah....who would want to listen to a fund that primarily shorts. Those Long Only funds did great in 2009. If you are basing your "call" on that I wish you good luck.
Surf, you are a nice guy, but your calls have been borderline horrific.
What other tools do you use besides this, a quarter, and a dart board?
