Markets Will Rise for Monday Open

Civil war breaking out in USA. Black Monday.

Name me one trader here who is short right now? Forget the top callers with no positions or who have gone long. Who is short right now? No one will come forward. It crashes when no one expects.

Attack or no attack - the basic issue is proliferation of weapons by NOKO. China's non-neutral posture to a pre-emptive strike by the US is supportive of NOKO's growing nuclear program. Eventually, they will be a major player with a seat at the table, getting considerations because they will indeed be a considerable threat to Peace and Security. ALL the nuclear nations know that starting a nuclear war will end in their own demise. Brushing off the growing threat that NOKO represents is non-sensical. With all due to respect to the comment about General MacArthur, China served a nuclear ultimatum to the US when victory was in sight because they did not want the entire peninsula overrun by the west. They fought a proxy war supplying troops and conventional weapons to the DPRK until it appeared that defeat was imminent.

Didn't ANYBODY watch MASH!!!!!

NK is not the first small country to make big claims. Dictators do this to throw red meat to the masses. What is different this time our President is a fan of similar tactics.

However, China did qualify their statement. If Trump strikes first it is on. That is what actually keeps us safe. Trump will posture, NK will threaten again and nothing will happen.

Not in the very near future at least. In the meantime, NOKO will continue to pursue an offensive nuclear program until they become what they dream about - a REAL PLAYER WITH A SEAT AT THE TABLE gaining significant concessions without eye-rolls. There should be an ancient proverb that says "The large tree is removed at great cost at the end of the day because no one clipped the weed this morning".

Well NOBODY likes it when any country, big or small, set up military bases in the country right next to it. Imagine somebody going into your next-door neighbour's backyard and set up an arsenal shop of all kinds of guns, grenades, bombs, high-tech drone control centre, thermo-sensitive surveillance cameras while your children play right next to them, you are not going to like it either. Technically that somebody is not invading your house but you are going to be nervous. Same thing.
Also known as the Cuban Missile Crisis...

What the Near Future Holds:

Kim ponders comments that sound a lot like his own :)

Market moves sideways Monday

More exchanges occur later in the week causing more market uncertainty

Kim celebrates as he takes the credit for disrupting world markets, something he was unable to do previously

Leaders wise up and admit that he is now controlling them and driving markets down or at least stifling growth

Repeat for the next 3.5 years.

MASH is propaganda. That is NOT what happened. China did NOT serve a nucelar ultimatum. China ONLY went into the war because MacArthur wanted to take the fight into China, WITHIN the Chinese borders with an excuse of destroying supply depots. LOL Would you allow somebody to come in to your house with guns and bombs? If not, then you understand and would agree why China got involved.

And for the record, China did NOT fight a proxy war; China had NO interest in Korea nor in fighting against United States. China only got involved to protect its own territory.

OK so everybody understands then in this case why not just China but also Russia does not like this either because Russia is right next door to NK too. Remember how USA acted in the Cuban Missile Crisis last time then expect China and Russia would act the same.

Wow -- very impressive discussion.
You guys rock.
Lots of great back-and-forth-ing......

Trading-wise, as an option seller, I'm on both sides of any market anyway, and yes, I have escape routes planned for everything I have on at the moment. The topside stuff I've bought back -- if we pop, I'll *try* to resell it while the vol survives. If we drop, I'll split/roll my downside positions, creating *more* room on the bottom, while HOPEFULLY avoiding the scary whipsaw if the market turns a V-bottom and rises back up again. (See, China re-val; Putin/Ukraine; FOMC/Brexit; US Elections; yadda yadda)

This non-8-handle vol is a gift, though, to be sure. It was scary yesterday -- I felt like I was shooting fish in a barrel. I heard myself saying, "Be cool! Be like Fonzi! And what's Fonzi like?!?!? 'he's cool?' HE'S COOL....."

So you are for NOKO - Oh wait - You are against NOKO - please clarify and pick a sense of humor on the way home from BK after work.
