Maurice Ashley is a prime example.

By the way, I don't know anything about this guy or whether you are implying he is cheating. He is a black guy playing chess.

I suppose you are saying he gets some sort of special status because he is black? What is that special status? He gets to cheat?

Or, hear me out here, the bias you have requires that black people be at least 30% better than the equivalent white competitor to be considered equal.

This is another form of racism that I have seen. You aren't allowed to just be average to be considered equal.

Lance Armstrong was doping.

Tonya Harding kneecapped a competitor.

People cheat.

It's not because they're black.
Did I say he cheated because he was black? You misread my story if you think so.

There are cheaters of all races in chess. Many of them have been caught.

My interpretation is the kid got special treatment after he got caught cheating because he was black. And his parents intimidated the tournament organizers like thugs.

Got it. So you are upset that the tournament organizers didn't do anything because the parents gave them hell and because they are black, this is something that is endemic to blacks.

What about the kid that got off some murder charge because of affluenza?

His parents fought hard for him, I'm sure. He was well in the wrong.

Is this endemic to white people?

Or just parents.

Damn white people, breaking the law to protect their kids.

You are really bent out of shape. Take a deep breath.

You are assuming too much. I’m not upset now and I wasn’t then. I took it all in as an observer.

However, many people were upset, especially the Chinese parents because the GM kid was Chinese.

And yes, the black kid’s parents and the kid acted outrageously. It was quite a sight. The kid accused the Chinese dad of wanting to look at his dick, etc., etc.

Hey but it worked for them. They got what they wanted. There wasn’t even a mention of the cheating in any reports about the tournament.

My point still remains: this is not a RACE thing which is what you are making it about.

And that itself is an example of racism. I showed you an example of a white kid getting off killing 4 people.

It is not a race thing. If a parent fights hard for the kid, or a kid in the wrong makes shit up to get out of it, it is NOT race related.

Sheesh.

This is precisely another example of racism. You are not allowed to be a normal person. You have to be completely perfect in every way.

Life isn't that way.

Do you see?

I think savior's point was that the kid did not face punishment and he thinks it was only due to his race. Lance and Tonya both faces consequences.

I think the point here is not to judge or handicap people by their skin color. Not every person with similar skin color is the same. Although I will form an idea of what someone is like based on appearance, how they act, or other info...for example if someone is morbidly obese and eating supersized fast food, my base assessment of the person is that they really don't care about their own health. I try to live by the golden rule and treat people how I would want to be treated (unless they act in such a way that does not warrant that level of respect). If everyone did that then the world would be a better place.

Second thing, I think having a role model does matter. If you dad was a ditch digger and you mom was a maid and your entire family had low skill jobs, maybe if school, you might wonder if book learning is really your gig. If you don't know anyone with the same skin color who is a doctor, maybe you wonder if you're cut out for it. That's probably a factor.

True story:

A few years ago, a black teen National Master was receiving a lot of attention and publicity. Obviously because he was black, not because being a chess NM as a teenage boy is rare (it isn’t).

I was in an elevator with an elderly black lady at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas. It was the National Open. She struck up a conversation with me and talked proudly about her grandson the famous chess teen. I had not heard of the kid so I looked up his history when I got to my room.

Some months later at the North American Open he got caught red-handed cheating. He was in a restroom stall consulting Stockfish on his phone during his game against a Chinese teenage Grandmaster. The GM’s dad followed the kid to the restroom and suspected he was cheating and looked into the stall.

All hell broke loose. The black kid and his family went berserk deflecting blame and threatening to sue the tournament organizer and wanting the police to be called on the GM kid’s dad.

Bottom line, nothing was done to the black kid for cheating. I don’t recall if he even forfeited the game. At the minimum, cheating results in an automatic forfeit and getting kicked out of the tournament.

I’m sure it wasn’t the first time the kid cheated. Being black has its privileges in the chess world. Maurice Ashley is a prime example.

Do you have that teenager chess National Master's name? Just curious.
