Market Selloff as people realize horrible dumbass Democrats kill economy

They can destroy our cities and ships with the new hypersonic missiles. We're on a new page in the relationship.

Well I don’t know about destroy but yes we won’t escape unscathed in the course of annihilating them.

We should talk about this sometime. The "deficit" is a politically useful concept. The Republicans use it whenever they want to kill things they are ideologically opposed to, though it is sometimes difficult to tell ideology from self-interest. When they use the "deficit" ploy, it's often capital investments they are killing!!! They have no problem with appropriating more for War than the Pentagon asks for. They love spending on wasting assets, because when these temporary assets, often never used for their intended purpose, go to the scrap heap, the companies they own get to produce still more wasting assets. They don't think far enough ahead to realize the same companies could be producing capital assets instead. There kind of spending is wasteful and does little for the bulk of Americans, other than to keep them treading water. Investment, on the other hand, produces a positive return and will reduce net future Treasury liabilities and the non-discretionary spending that goes with these liabilities. And most importantly, real investment in the future lifts the little boats as well as the yachts. We need to spend less on wasting assets and invest more in capital assets that will sustain our future.

This is a good take. We aren’t doing things like the Hoover dam anymore. We aren’t even thinking about it. Transformative investments pay off. We are still collecting returns from the TVA investments in the south and Midwest.

You will not be materially any better off, you're only going to feel better. For you it's not about the data, it's about emotion.

It’s the culture war. People buy into the idea that the left is somehow going to take away what little they do have so they accept a party that actively works against their own interests.

I do not necessarily think you are correct. As a matter of fact one could rightly argue Biden is showing much more strength than Obama and Trump in Russian affairs.

Yeh, right. Sure. You need that to be true. Other than that, no. Emphatically *no*.

And yes, this is not a freebie for Putin even if the U.S. does nothing. The Ukranians are not going to go down easily and even if they are defeated on the field it will be messy and the Russian economy is sufficiently fragile that additional sanctions will keep them even weaker. Like Iran, no one is going to be floored and taken out of the game with sanctions but they do feel it. Russia's economy is very shaky and whatever military might they have is a result of their punching above their weight by putting so much of their resources into the military.

As we have seen in history before- refer to the famines in Ukraine- the Ruskies play a rough game and are willing to sacrifice every man, woman, and child in the Ukraine just achieve their turf objectives. Not sure how that plays in the days of cell phone cams.

Having said that, there is not a single cell in my body which is interested in having the Ukraine in NATO. And boot Turkey out while we are on that topic. Don't need any more losers.

An underdiscussed topic in the media is whether the Russian people want a war with Ukraine, which is doubtful. Not saying that would stop Putin, but it adds to his resistance if things get dicey.

I was referring to the strength and fortitude of the Russian people in comparison to your pussy ass generation today. 2 weeks tops and you'd be surrendering like Sadam's army did. I'd take ten 87 yo Ken Langones on the front-line over 100 of your ilk.
Clarence Emil "Bud" Anderson (born January 13, 1922) is a retired officer in the United States Air Force, a triple ace of World War II, and the highest scoring living American fighter ace. During the war he was the highest scoring flying ace in his P-51 Mustang squadron. Towards the end of Anderson's two combat tours in Europe in 1944 he was promoted to major at 22, a young age even for a highly effective officer in wartime. After the war Anderson became a well regarded fighter test pilot, and a fighter squadron and wing commander

Are you mentally stable? For real?
Either you're bedrock stupid, or you're one of those low iq individuals that's not quite that stupid, that argue semantics because they're too dense to see anything else.
Either one... not real flattering.
... idiot.
Case closed.
.... Ignored.

I've bought a bottle or two of Old Crow myself in years gone by. ;)
