Market Makers Pre and Post Market

Out of curiosity, to what extent do you think MM's participate in pre and post market trading?

I have assumed that they probably didn't participate too much, but in hindsight I've realized my assumption was probably based on NY Specialists not participating on listed stocks outside regular market hours.

Anybody have any insight or experience in this area??
