why the hell is the market showin upward strength?

the fundamentals clearly show a doomed economy.. why are people buying?

interest rate cuts hardly change anything in this state of economy so why is there buying?

No, they don't. Excluding financials, the 4th quarter profits of the S&P 500 companies have increased by 11%.

How are we doomed? The economy isn't as bad as the media is making it out to be.

So which is it? Does the market look 6 months ahead, or 5 minutes behind?

ETA: I think the indexes are up because the housing data was so bad (i.e. worst ever) that at least 50 bp cut is now required.
