Very interesting.
Does this show/work on intraday charts as well - if so, which time frames??

Which software are you using here?

Charts would be appreciated?

Edge,

Are you finding the aggregate VWAP for the whole SPX interesting ?

I'm not sure what I think about these VWAP bands. On strongly trending days, regarding them as turning points is folly. On some days they are effective. I need to study them some more.

However, here is something a bit interesting. The chart is for DAX, 50 IB ticks. The bottom subplot shows the total number of contracts showing in the book. Guess where the big blokes are trading.

The candles for book delta and book size are not quite right due to some err ... features in my tick/book replay code, but you get the general idea.

Which software/which indicator does
show this if I may ask?

It's been a while since I posted something worthwhile. In fact you could probably argue a strong case that I've never actually posted anything worthwhile. Be that as it may ......

One of the niceties of the FP chart in MD is that it lets you slice and dice a whole bunch of different data in a myriad of ways (Chad is a master of lateral thinking). I've yet to figure out uses for some of this stuff - but I hope to one day.

Nonetheless, one of the first issues you face with a FP chart is how do you segment the data - time, price, range, ticks, reversals etc. I'm sure most people will go with a bog standard 2min or 5min chart. But I find time based FP charts to be about the least useful.

Here's my favourite FP chart (ER2 at what looks like being the low for today). I have it in every single layout I use. It is invaluable for giving me a feel for the action and understanding buying/selling pressure. Plus I use it to time entries and exits. The way I use it is simple - I study how the FPs are forming and then the trend on the column deltas.

It is a 50 tick chart - so it has a very fine (ie: short-term) resolution. Tick FP charts are the superior choice for preserving the shape of the market action IMHO. As you can see I strip away all extraneous display options so that I can squeeze as many colums as possible on to the chart. I also over-ride the default colour-shading (15-30-60 in this case).

The transition from selling to buying is clear as the proverbial dogs bollocks on this chart - although it is a particularly good example. You won't get this degree of clarity from a time based FP.

Does it equally good work on pure minutes charts?
Which software do you use to get these MD (Market Delta??) + what do
you mean by "FP"?

ER2 but not S&P (or E-mini)? What is
the reason for that?
Pardon me if I should have overread
something in previous posts.

Yes Charly you should overread.

Thanks.
Lots of reading probably. :-)

Is "FP" a software that allows MD or whatelse??

What would a 1 (or 2-) minute chart look like with such MD, please??

Thanks again.
Charly

Charly,

An FP chart is a Foot Print chart.

Here is one min chart for DAX from my software. If you can read the small fonts, good luck to you !

Thanks you D

still don't know what a footprint chart is. :-)
