...I have something to mention.
I've been an IRT user for 5 years now.Market Profile trader for 33 months.I use TPO charts along with filtered buy/sell volume slapped on a bar chart with VB.I actually only recently started using the VB version.Reason being is that I need to keep one bar chart open for every instrument I trade because I place and manage my trades right on the chart which is tied into NT5's ATI.

I don't use averages, smoothing or anything of the sort on VB, although I do understand how some of you may find value in applying it that way. I came up with the original idea of splitting trades done on the ask vs bid in IRT but it was used as BVOL-AVOL which is still part of IRT's RTL language.Might as well mention I was also a major player in getting the TPO charts to the level they now are. I didn't think they would eventually want to license them from the CBOT though! I wanted to keep them secret.

More power to Linnsoft and Chad because since the TPO/MP and MD additions they have been pretty busy. And no I don't get a cut or any special favors other than occasionally being asked for my input on a feature that is about to be added. That of which I am grateful. What I did get from Chad and Bill is 99% of the requested features and tools I've asked for, to make IRT what it is today. They are to me the best charting software company around. They will consider and most probably add any sane well thought out ideas.
Now that introductions are in order, more to the point...
I feel that what I am about to say will have some credibility. I was not involved in any of the MD development other than the original plain jane custom- indicator BVOL-AVOL as I've mentioned earlier. In setting up the original custom-indicator I used IB and or MyTrack as my data feed and it's direction was opposite to my buddy's DTNIQ data feed direction. So much so that we felt it unreliable. Mine would show the net volume going up on trades done on the ask(green and rising) thinking it was aggressive buyers while his DTNIQ feed would show the net volume dropping as the trades were done on the bid( red and declining) thinking this was an abundance of supply being dumped and at any moment the market would drop. Never happened. I don't know what it is about DTNIQ but something just isn't right or consistent in the way that they report the trades done on the bid vs ask. Yes sometimes both our net volume direction would agree. Tried syncronizing our CPU clocks.Same result.
Finally I have yet to find anyone to show me "live" how they use MD to trade where it lends support to thier trade decisions.I just don't have the eyes to follow it, it's too damn fast! After the fact charts just don't count for me.
Decent thread Bolter..I think we spoke once or twice about MP last spring..not exactly sure.
P.S. Looks like at the end of the month I will be switching to E-Signal for accurate trade reports no one else seems to offer.
