Question re: warrants tracking underlying

i watched DSTIW trade today, along with DSTI...at about 11:30, DSTIW spikes $2, while DSTI moves only .30...any body understand warrants enuff to explain this type of volatility, or refer me to someplace that does?

DIA, QQQQ, SPY all started the day in NR7 setups...color me bearish....along with MRVL, PTEN, ONXX, RHAT, QCOM, MNST, KOMG and the momo darlings off the NRG crowd....ABLE, GEOI.......

so much time...so few fingers

the energy sector:
XLE, OIH

looking to advance these two into mid afternoon...sellers lurking around so there is still good turnover...i'm looking for plungers/jumpers and volatility to increase-then-subside... time bomb is a ticking ... a test of $45 would suffice at first glance

edit: although price is everything, i have a time variable set for XLE trade ... just wanted to state this

edit: one more thing, TCF turned into OVEN.
i know that many 'armchair' investors received early notice.
this may be a good one for some here, but i don't touch things like this.
 
Going to short NASDAQ stocks (writing calls) this afternoon. AMZN, AAPL, EBAY, DELL, RIMM etc. I sense a dump coming up. I will write only 10% or more OTM calls for Aug.
 
Will be on the sidelines this morning till the sentiment reveals it self. Generally, I'm flat now except may be 5 - 6 open positions (all of them short).
 
Ok, time to go short but only moderate amounts. I'll choose OTM calls that are at least 15% out. Today the emphasis are on NYSE stocks.
