"Has anyone ever seen a stock run up on a Friday on takeover rumors, and actually announce the merger on Monday morning?"

my memory may be faulty, but i thought that happened with john hancock and the canadian insurer that bought them out.....notwithstanding that, if i had .53 for every time SINA was alleged to be "...being bought out", or RIMM, i could at least afford a double mocha latte at SBUX

Ok, you're right, and you're wrong on this one. On the evening of Thursday, Sep. 25, 2003, JHF executives deliberately leaked the impending merger directly to the press:

That Friday, JHF shares traded up 7% on the rumor/ unofficial leak. Now comes the good part: The following Monday morning the merger was in fact made official, and JHF shares traded down 46 cents on the news!

looks to me like a rally is coming in the next day or so to at least S&P 1180.

Hey Inandlong!

I did say 1180 S&P, but I made this prediction here on 4/26, so i'm about 10 days off. S&P made a high of 1178.6 on thursday, so the TA was good, the timing alittle off!

Yes folks post your "calls" here. No need for multiple thread starters every single freakin day.

Thankyou.

You are oh so right, avalanched! This trading message board called "elitetrader" doesn't need my stock calls posted in "trading". Let's bury them here. Why would ET need my calls like TZOO, CME in the "trading" section? I mean, I only called for both of these stocks to plunge ONE day before they did. They both plunged about 15%-20% the NEXT day. But who needs the clutter of something like this filling up the "trading" section?
