Nothing in the constitution prevents Trump from running for President, and given how easily he got beat last time, why would anyone care if he runs again? Nobody has forgotten his disastrous handling of COVID and his non stop drama.
The Jan. 6 drama hearings are about preventing Trump from running, if at all possible, by convicting him of a crime.
Failing of that, the intent is to smear Trump enough to keep him from winning, if he runs again.
For example, an indictment is a smear.
In this case, raiding Trumps residence is a smear.
If they can manage to get an indictment out of the fishing expedition, that too would be a smear.
Getting a conviction would keep him from running, or if he won, an excuse to impeach him again.
The politics around this, and it's flowing from the failure of the Jan. 6 committee drama is pretty obvious.
And no, he wasn't beat last time. The charts i show in my last post show he was cheated by an operation that is threatening our democracy.
My personal opinion about how he handled his last term is not over-riding the rationality of this general conclusion. I have complaints about it. What is more detrimental to our country is stealing elections outright, and the dirty politics which emboldens election theft.
The Jan. 6 hearings is a distraction from what actually happened: An election was stolen, people expressed their frustration through protest. The protest got out of hand with the help of the FBI.
