many asked for a book to start

Thanks for the advice Private. I was trying to help Kicking find a copy. Which newer books would you recommend? It's real hard to find any good books about stock index trading. I haven't heard a lot about Gary Smith recently, either. He used to post in misc.invest.futures, until last year.
 
He wrote a few articles for Active Trader. I wonder how he is doing too , I wonder how all these guys are doing now actually. In the case of Gary Smith I think he started making serious money in the early eighties when the bullmarket started.
