None of those “solutions” you have posed will help anything. Browbeating anyone never helps. What helps in negotiations is listening to people, not telling them and certainly not threatening them.

When Manchin loses in 2024 it will send a message to other and future democrats not to be like him.

Manchin is definitely working with democrats. He is confirming nominations and judges. He voted for Biden’s relief package - and he made very clear he did not want to at the time. He moved a bipartisan infrastructure bill that included democrat priorities like broadband and reconnecting neighborhoods disrupted by highways (this is a big, big minority issue and will help with some issues of access to supermarkets and economic growth that people don’t realize).

Yep. And I did not rule it out. I said he is doing pretty well right where he is and does not feel all the need for him to change that media and pundits are imposing on him. But as I said, they do not want to get too nasty with him by trying to punish him. That's where the "not ruling out" would definitely come in.

Bernie is an independent and caucuses with the dems. Angus King, the Senator from Maine is an independent and caucuses with the dems. Even if Manchin left the dem party, it is not clear to me why he would not just become and independent and caucus with whichever party he chooses to caucus with. Caucusing with a party adds your seat to the majority or minority count in the senate even though you are an independent.

Can you imagine if Senator Joe Manchin did actually, switch parties? Extreme liberal Democrats will roll on the floor and cry like the little babies that they are. Then, the Republicans gain the majority with 51 votes. That would be a very big bitch slap to the extreme liberals like Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Manchin is about to go through some things though. He has enjoyed high poll numbers to date but let’s see what happens now.

From his statement, it seems his sticking points were the CTC expansion and of course accelerated energy timeline stuff. That environmental stuff is basically dead. The people of West Virginia don’t care about that at all. The CTC on the other hand, we’ll see. Something like 93% of kids in WV were receiving that credit- basically anyone not related to Joe Manchin- we’ll see what happens when they don’t get their “draw” anymore. Still dicey though.

The rest of the stuff is pretty easy. Let Joe alone for a while and come back to it later.

I agree he won't win a GOP primary or even as an independent.Biden needs to make it clear to Manchin that if you are going to cause me to lose re-election I will do the same to you.Biden should also promise to support a primary challenger against Manchin .If Biden actually fought back against Manchin and Senima I and other democrats would respect him more.I will not be voting for Biden in 2024 because he is so fucking weak.

In Trenton, NJ the infrastructure bill is a big deal. We built a highway through Trenton with a tunnel that forces trucks into city streets that actually cut off the city from the riverfront. Totally screwed a lot of blue collar minority home owners. We will be using funds from the infrastructure bill to fix that and it’s big deal here. Bonnie Watson Coleman worked hard to get that funding and it’s going transform a large section of Trenton. Lots of things like that will be happening all across this country.

But again I make this point to the right wingers on this board and it goes right over their heads too, progressives are not the base of the democrat party. The base of the party has real priorities and are interested in getting things done, not fighting all of the time.
