Man Who Burned Qur'an Pages Loses Job

Guy burns pages of the Qur'an on 9/11 anniversary and NJ Transit fires him for violating conduct code.

But he was on his own time.

I'd fire anyone I caught doing that in a sufficiently public way.

But you're right, violence does pay, always has. You can "speak to power" until you are blue in the face, but until there is violence, they may very well (and often do) ignore you.

I guess the question is what NJ transit "code of conduct" was violated? And does it apply if he is off duty? And, can NJ transit take away constitutional rights in there code of conduct?

I'm not a lawyer but something smells fishy...
