Man versus Machine –TOP STEP TRADER vs. my algos

With all the discussion of the die out of human traders and machines rising I want to issue a challenge.

A friendly 2 week challenge. My Trading algos versus any TST trader or TST prospect or any other trader for that matter. I traded for years as a disc, with increasing algo help and then flipped over almost entirely (very dark Gray box) I think this exercise will help highlight the advantages and disadvantages of both

My specialty is FX but the TST trader can trade anything they wish. Rules would be similar to the combine but unlike the combine, traders can manage their own risk and leverage like most traders do, subject to allowable margin. I realize this is not the TST way but in the real world risk and reward cant be separated. To make dough you have to incur some risk.

Rules:
-2 week period or longer
-25k demo account with real world fills (no MIT) I will use Interactive Brokers with similar margin rules for FX as futures 50:1
-P&L market at 430EST each day

I will make my Algo available via live 24/5 via join.me so traders can look in and see the live trading and will update and will post the updates mornings and afternoons. I will also make the auto trade into IB available.

see thread below for

Would also like the trader(s) to weigh in and comment if comfortable

If interested in participating weigh in and lets see what we learn

Hello,

I am currently in Top Step Trader in the $50K Combine account.

What are your rules for the challenge?

Thank you

this is not i am better than you stuff. (actually it was for TST) but i think there is an opportunity for learning both ways. DISC guys learning what makes algo tick and how they can apply and algos guys getting some ideas to possibly toss around. it you disc trade and blow up who cares. it demo money. i run 5 different PC in demo always in dev mode. learning is an ongoing process.

hi Mike .. you can follow the TST rules but modify for real world or just stay and see how it works. I will offer any comments or help if i can.

Hello tprintl,

This sounds very fun and challenging. I use CTS as well.

Just to make sure I understand, my daily P/L (discretionary mechanical trading) vs your daily P/L (automated algorithmic trading) ? That is very good you have algo trading for me. Maybe I learn something in the process?

Thanks

CTS ? CTS API ? We use that for futures. As far as learning, hopefully we all get idea

It looks like there are no discretionary traders left, so there is no one to take on your challenge.
How about a different one: machine against the machine?
I'll take you on this one.

I'm a Discretionary (intuition/skill/gut) trader.
I'm not however interested in putting up a fantasy challenge to prove anything o_Oo_O

When I was first starting out, I would have gladly taken up this challenge -- but now, time is money for me.
I'm fairly confident my % return will beat you -- both in fantasy game and real life trading acct.

Daily performance
today was flat... Broker would be happy. 90RTs in EURUSD alone. USDJPY was the losing side today.

90RT in one instrument alone? What was your total net PnL today, after commish and exchange fees?

NET, not GROSS. How much did those minimum 90 RT cost you?

He posted a screenshot of his sim IB account. From there, it looks like today's commissions were $35K. This must be some sort of sim account idiosynchracy, because his account size is only $28K.
