the govt is not giving unemployment benefits out of compassion or even "re-distribution", it is because it fears social unrest, this fear is PARAMOUNT in their minds and could mean the end of the union. So becareful, either you give it to them peacefully, or they take it from you BY FORCE.

somehow the USA survived for over 200 years without obama's benefits.
of course now with 2 years unemployment benefits and possibly soon to be lifetime under obama men can stay at home to take care of the children and be paid $400/ week to do so + the $200 previously paid the illegal immigrant to take care of the kids.
should we call it paid leave for dada's? was this a clever way to solve solve the illegal immigrant issue?
If the government is going to pay unemployed people, they may as well make them work for the money. They could pick up trash on the side of the road, go into the inner city and refurbish abandoned properties, feed the poor in soup kitchens, clean bathrooms in public office buildings, etc. Or they could require that unemployed people take a full-time minimum wage job, then subsidize the difference between what they are earning and what they are currently receiving from unemployment. If you pay people not to work, they won't. Duh!
Or how about paying crews to cut every friggin tree away from all the power lines around suburban washington, dc. Every time there is a thunder storm here there are literally tens of thousands of people without power for days. It would be a big project here and an even bigger one if done nationwide that could employ many people and would be a genuine help to communities. Oh well...
