I definitely agree with you. I got this system with all the coupons active :D . Ordered it Thursday and It came today! Fast! Even with a few upgrades. I popped for XP Pro because of Home problems I've heard of.

I prefer 2000, and considered just overwriting the XP Home version but didn't feel like hassling with driver issues for once in my life (I spent a month doing that one week!). I also figured I should have at least on PC with XP on it as the future is coming and Bill Gates ain't holding back.

With the introduction of the 800 Meghz Front Side Bus in Intel's new Caterwood 875P Chipset that features Dual Channel DDR400 memory, as well as the discontinuation of Rambus RDRAM memory in Dell's computers, prices are heading lower this month.

Also, in May we will see Intel shipping a similar chipset, code-named Springdale that will allow PC makers to ship 2.8, 2.6, 2.4 GHz P4 PC's with the 800-MHz bus and DDR.

Currently, Hyperthreading and the 800-MHz Front Side Bus is only availble in Intel processors functioning at 3.0 GHz.

I guess if you ordered from the business site you get the grand
privilege of paying sales tax. I thought there wasn't sales tax
on the Internet yet? I wonder if you could of ordered this
computer from the non-business site?

And to top things off, if you want a floppy drive or a modem, you
get to pay extra for that too... Add some more if you wanted
speakers. And of course the XP pro upgrade.... (only $60). Of
course there are many more upgrade choices.

Nevertheless, I have one on it's way. Ordered it Sunday night.
Shipping date is 5-2-03. Should take 3-5 days to arrive after
that I assume.
 
Well, the Dimension 8300 promotional deal by Dell expired this past Wednesday on April 30th, and sure enough, there is nothing close to it being showed on the site right now.

As of today, May 2nd, only Free shipping and $150 off.

But this is in no comparison to the $250 rebate on Wednesday's deal, with double the memory and hard-drive ( 256 to 512, and 60 Gigs to 120 Gigs ), not too mention an extra-drive with CD-RW.

The same computer goes for $200 more today, with half the memory and hard-drive!

Damn!

When I first got a VCR I paid a thousand dollars this was decades ago and my first microwave oven was 600. My first computer was several thousand dollars, I just got the wife yesterday a HP laptop for $750 but best buy had a laptop for $550 after rebates 30 gig hard drive. My question is are computers going to become as inexpensive as todays vcr's and microwave ovens? How long until we see sub $100 computers?
