Shares in Man Group fell sharply Wednesday after the hedge fund manager said its funds under management had lost over a fifth of their value in the last three months of 2008.
The group said funds under management at the end of the year were estimated at around $53.3 billion, a 21% decline from the $67.6 billion it reported at the end of September due mainly to lower leverage at its Man Global Strategies unit and investment outflows from institutional investors.
