Norton has a free download called the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool. This is probably what your computer repair shop used lol.
It'll fix anything, I'm surprised they give it away for free.
I'd run it if I were you, even with the clean OS.

Moral of the story...

Don't store passwords in your browser. Write them down and put them in a safe place. Better yet, just memorize them.

And be sure to use at least a minimum standard of 8 characters, with a mix of upper and lower case, numbers and the ten main special characters (on top of the number keys).

That gives a possibility of 20 trillion combinations. Since most important websites lock out after 3 bad attempts, the chances of it being cracked are, well...Ever seen a flying cow come home? Heh

Ya mine was 9 characters mixed upper lower letters numbers and special characters. Deleted all passwords from browser already. Have to go back to when I was a kid and had to remember a hundred phone numbers by heart because cell phones didn't exist.
 
You can get trojans just by visiting infected sites.

Anyway there is a class of Malware that is not detectable by an antivirus scan. I will not elaborate further due to the lack of a solution available to the general public. If you suspect a malware is persistent after formatting it will be better to purchase a new laptop/pc from a reputable brand.

Agreed, Actually I ran Spybot, Malware Bytes and Norton 360 on the computer after it was infected and all of them said there was no virus whatsoever. Also ran them all in Safe Boot mode. This was an HP computer straight from Walmart with some individual upgrades like SSD and Ram

You know we live in a fast food society now where technology makes for every and any conceivable convenience, and this was one of them. Just go to any site and log right in easily with autofill. Google is so huge I just assumed they were well ahead of the curb on stuff like this. This was an eye opener for me.

Agreed. Unfortunately we are also living in a "trust no one" era where with all the modern technology and convenience, you never know what lurks somewhere. Sorry to hear about your trouble. And appreciate you sharing it with us.
