One thing that many people do not see is that there are many foreigners in the US. Most of them have H1B OPT or green cards and some have E1-2 visas which means they are an investor
When an american loses his job, he can move to his parents' house and may not be homeless. But what about a foreigner?
I have known and heard so many foreigners' gone back to their country when they lost their job. But the statistics do not show that.
Why stay and spend your savings in a country where there is no hope and future? And your country be it china or india is booming and there are many opportunities, probably more risky and pays less but it is your country. It is free to try.
Silicon Valley lost thousands of Indians even before the recession and from what I read in papers, the trend is accelerating especially among fresh grads.
