Malicious trolling and stalking

True, but you can simply Google the IP in question and see if the host is a common VPN server farm.
For sure, but the question is what would Baron do about it? (since this question comes up in this trolling thread) He cant ban a suspect multi-alias name just because they happen to use the same VPN.

I know, sure, but it's shady not to offer any color. He could state that it's some server farm vs. some random dude's home IP. What would be the reason for running a VPN to post here?

Agree with you completely.

I suppose there are some people who may do everything through a VPN, all their browsing, etc. For trading of course, there is a hit in terms of the extra time necessary, but perhaps these people have a separate computer just for trading that wouldn't go through a VPN.

This is why I've never liked it when he or Magna say that two posters in question are very far away. It means absolutely nothing since many VPNs offer servers on every continent and dozens spread throughout the US.

It would be dumb not to have a dedicated trading puter and another for browsing, email, pandora etc.

Most VPNs will have servers scattered all over the world. You can pick which server you want to connect to and hence what country you want to appear that you are in.
Not to mention if you log in from your phone it's a different IP address than your home which is different from your office which is different from the local Starbucks which is different from the other local Starbucks....in short IP tracking is a very poor way to identify multiple logins from the same user. The reverse is also true, if soeswasbetter and I happened to use the same vpn it would appear we were the same person, even if we happen to live on opposite sides of the globe and are lucky if we have all of 2 beliefs we hold in common.

You're adding at least 300ms latency. And there is no f*cking way that either Xela or handle traded.

Forgot about that asshole.

Jeez for past three weeks I have been in 3 other countries so I am sure my IP is not showing that I am in three different places..not a reliable fact check for uncovering identities.

Right, and ET would have a log of each assigned to each logon.

There is a lot of evidence associated with IPs, but what we're talking about here is matching IPs from different aliases. Obviously that is why they killed the Lukas V nick. He stated here that he's known Xela all her life yet the admins were defending it stating he was banned for prior banned nicks.

So is Lukas V legit other than one of his previous aliases was banned? ha.

C'mon people. Most people are going to be smart enough to cover their tracks. Few people trade through a VPN. Geolocating an IP goes a long way. Say someone logs into ET 4K times and all from one IP. You check the static IP and it's not a server farm--the person is probably legit.
