making one point a day?

Quote from Charlie Dow:

especially during the Summer when volatility is always low

Is volatility really always lower in the summer? I would love to have some type of proof for that. I have always considered summers to be relatively better trading months. At least my P/L thinks so.

look at er.

it often leads es. 1 point in er is also easier and worth more than es

why a noobie is bothering with es is beyond me.

if you like it cos there is no volatility then look at ged which is more reliable.

or look at bp or ym because it is still fairly liquid, and has a low tick value, if you must do the volatility thing.

you should only trade es if liquidity is a problem - which as a noob - it wont be.

i think youre going about it the right way though - looking for small consistent wins rather than get rich quick

In 2003-04, I would say you were right about ER leading ES. That correlation has been pretty spotty for most of 2005.

I guess ProfLogic was over in Asia for the summer of 2002

On ES, a good intraday trader should expect to make at least 0.5 points per contract per day, before slippage and commissions... slippage and commissions need to be subtracted (depends on how good you are at negotiating a deal/whether you lease a seat etc, and also on how good you are at execution!)...

This is over the long run... some market cycles will be much worse and some much better...

glad to hear the good news!!

loads of people seem to think that lower liquidity means lower volatility.

i cant see how this is so personally - just look at bp futures v ec futures and tell me which has the lower liquidity ans the highest volatility - or ront months v back months in eurodollar.

price discovery - ring any bells?

Roll up your sleeves and check the daily contract volume for yourself. I have 8 years worth of data archived but I don't share, sorry.

Remember the key here is consistency. Anything that happens, "sometimes" isn't consistent enough.

Correct and spotty corrrelations lead to spotty profits.
