Well, IB's minimum is 2000 .. and if a single 1 tick loss will prevent you from placing another trade, then it is just a toss up on the first few trades that they "have" to be winners. It's a dangerous mental state to put yourself in.

Now, if it was something like $2500 , then sure.. an experienced trader should be able to build it up.

It seems like there are alot of traders out there trying to start small and grow it to a sizable account.
Alot of experienced traders seem to say that a $40,000 account to begin with might be a good idea which is fine but if you don't have it, well ya' gotta start somewhere.

My question is this: Experienced Traders: If your trading account was wiped out and all you had was $2,000, could you make money on it? Any particular strategies?

Just curious.

I could, but I doubt YOU will. HEH! :D

It can be done in the emini market if you have the system, excellent diiscipline, and a little "luck' for the first trade or two.

But it ain't easy!

If I only had 2k left I would put it on black at the Roulette table.....double up or go home....just make sure you sit at the table for a few minutes and get the "free" drinks.

Forget day trading. Go the value route find a stock which is at 52 week low from DOW and buy if it has significant support. Or once it forms double bottom.

Sure way to end up with drinks and no $$.

Right system, managed properly with exceptional discipline can turn 2K into big $$ in a shorter time than most people believe.

A bit of good "karma" the first couple trades wouldn't hurt either, but it's 98% you and maybe 2% "karma" (which you create anyway).

I dont know...one bet then walk away if you win. You have just under a 50/50 chance. Good Karma could help you out there also.

Not that I am in support of gambling

Just play conservatively and you'll be OK. Pulling out 5-10 points a pop on YM is no big deal. Yes, it's only $25-50 but do that a few times a day and you'll be alright.
