50 mg Iodate is kid's dosage. Recomended dosage over 12 years is:

Iodate 170 mg
Iodade 130 mg

I took it in the military during a period of time I was on active duty and deployed.

BTW, you can take two 50 mg pills as an adult on a daily basis and that is adequate.
