"[Vaccination is] very, very effective, but not 100%, and as a higher proportion of the population is double-vaccinated, it's inevitable that those 10% of that very large number remain at risk, and therefore will be amongst the people who both catch the infection and end up in hospital."

Missing from the article is how many hospitalized received only one vaccination, and how many have died who received both doses, versus how many who were unvaccinated or received only the first dose of Covid vaccine died compared to those who received the recommended two doses.

That's what caught my eye...

The missing statistics have been weird or manipulated because if a hospital knows who has received two doses as in full vaccination...they should then also know who has received only a single dose as in partial vaccination.

Yet, that's the United Kingdom and they have their own problems with misinformation / disinformation towards Covid, Vaccination, Medical Treatments that are different than the United States.

I do know that yesterday, the United Kingdom had a wild party (no face masks, no social distancing, very crowded) nightlife celebrations to mark the end to their lockdown and restrictions...in the midst of increasing Delta Variant problems.

United States counter via initialing, days earlier...travel restrictions and Covid guidelines for those exempted from the travel restrictions to and from the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, it's the same type of travel exemptions that got the United States into problems with Covid last year with China, Brazil, and this year with India.
  • Essentially, thousands were still able to travel between the countries even with the travel restrictions in place due to the exemptions. Many did not follow the Covid guidelines upon arrival.
These people in United Kingdom and United States are dangerous to individuals that are young with problematic immune systems and others with underlying medical conditions that are not eligible to take the vaccine to protect them from the crazies.

Another fastly growing problem...fake vaccination information. It's a hot market now for such. :mad:

It’s all about age, if you read through the article. It is time to consider a three dose regimen for people over 80, IMO.

What I will say is an 80 year old with two dose vaccine has the same likelihood of hospitalization as a 50 year old unvaccinated person. If was 50 and unvaccinated I would be a little worried about Delta considering what we are seeing in the UK.

Not at all. When I went to college in the late 90s we had to get the hep b shot and that one took three doses.

Three doses may be the right dosage for people over 80 and people with weakened immune systems. It’s really not a big deal.

Like I said earlier, if you’re over 50 and unvaccinated you might want to reconsider getting vaccinated with what we are seeing happening to the over 80 and vaccinated crowd there though.

I spent some time 2 weekends ago on Hilton Head and met a group of clinical and research immunologists. This is anecdotal, but they indicated that Wuhan-19 is here to stay, endemic if you will. It will be like the flu year after year as I have indicated prior. ---I'll say it again----time to get back to normal and move on.

Did you watch the original news conference? Why did he go into details and provide a long winded explanation on why it is the fully vaxxed make up the 60%?

If you'll read the article you linked to you will see very clearly written, in a way that does not invite misinterpretation, that your expert was quoted as saying, after he admitted making a mistake by reporting incorrect statistics, "Vaccination is very, very effective, but not 100%, and as a higher proportion of the population is double-vaccinated, it's inevitable that those 10% of that very large number remain at risk, and therefore will be amongst the people who both catch the infection and end up in hospital."

I read that as saying that "that 10%, not 40%, of those who are double vaccinated may still get sick enough to end up in a hospital! What do you read it as? Of course that 10% number was his estimate. The U.S. data shows that very close to 0% of those double vaccinated end up dying from Covid!!!! That's pretty damn impressive as far as I'm concerned.

Would you agree that we all have an obligation not to allow ourselves to become victims of media misinformation and to refrain from spreading such?
